Honoring the legacy of Unci Beverly Littlethunder through intergenerational leadership, ceremony, and collective care.

Rooted in Prayer. Guided by Community. Sustained by Land.

Founded in 1987 by Beverly Little Thunder, Kunsi Keya Tamakoce is a matriarchal-led ceremonial and community space dedicated to the respectful preservation and sharing of Lakota teachings, prayer, and land-based ways of gathering. For nearly four decades, the Women’s Sundance has served as a sacred space for healing, cultural continuity, relationship, and collective responsibility.

Following Beverly’s passing, her daughter, Lushanya Echeverria, continues this work alongside community leadership, carrying forward a lifelong relationship to ceremony, stewardship, intergenerational care, and the vision Beverly devoted her life to building.

At Kunsi Keya Tamakoce, we believe spirituality, community care, and cultural learning are rooted in relationship, accountability, humility, and respect. Beverly’s vision was to create a space where people of many backgrounds — especially Two Spirit, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and allied communities — could gather in a good way to learn, serve, pray, and participate alongside Lakota traditions and the Red Road with care and responsibility.

We preserve what is sacred, protect what must remain in ceremony, and share what is meant to strengthen community, belonging, and collective healing. In doing so, we honor those who came before us while creating space for future generations to gather, learn, and continue the work.
